About
This blog has been started as a way of recording the ups and downs of my battle with weight after being suggested by James Ashberry aka 22 Stone Cyclist.
From the age of 13 I was actively involved in sports, football being my 1st love, but also playing badminton to a fairly high standard, from 13-16 I played on the school A team, I played for a Saturday and Sunday team and in the week also played for the local area team, so I was never what you would call fat, quite the opposite in fact. I never watched what I ate, but then again what adolescent does? But with the amount of sport I played along with the fact that I rode everywhere on my trusty Raleigh Arena GTX any food I ate was no problem, I think this is where my unhealthy relationship with food began. By the time I was 20 all the sport had stopped but I continued to eat like I had been doing, fast forward in time to age 29 and my upcoming wedding, I knew I had put weight on but was surprised to learn I tipped the scales at 19st, subsequently I joined Slimming World and got down to 17 st 8 for my wedding day, for me though it wasn’t sustainable and my underlying bad habits were still there. In Feb 2008 I started my regime to get fit and lose weight, my heaviest weight being 24st (152.4kg), by Feb 2009 I was down to 19st 2 (122kg), but I started lapsing on my cycling, then I found inspiration in James Ashberry’s blog and started back hard, today I weigh 16st 10 (106kg), this is my journey
