Today is yet another start for me in my pursuit of losing weight, this time will be different as I will be documenting it in it’s entirety, more for myself to keep myself on the straight and narrow. Another thing I need to start doing is using the gym that I joined with my wife 6/7 weeks ago, but anyone that has struggled with excessive weight will know that walking into a gym is taking me far from my comfort zone, but another obstacle I must overcome

Exercise today 36 minutes interval training on the Turbo Trainer on an empty stomach before I go to work, as it is supposed to kick start your metabolism for the day, 20 Crunches
Breakfast 50g of Kellogs Optivita with 125ml of Semi Skimmed Milk, I know the guideline is 30g but it looked like nothing in the bowl and it is a massive improvement on my previous breakfasts, I will look to reduce it through the coming weeks

Elevenses Large Banana

Dinner 1/2 Pot eat Smart Cottage Cheese, Chicken Fillet, Apple, handful of dried fruit (dried apricots, pear apple and prunes)

Afternoon Tin of Tuna in Brine Drained

Tea 3 Large Egg Omelette with Chorizo, Large Banana

Drinks 2 Black Coffees, 1 Tea with Milk, 2.5 Ltrs of Water

Current weight:114.4kg or 18st 2oz in old money Target for month 107kg

I had mean’t to put post more past posts before any current posts, however last night my shed was broken into and my bikes stolen whilst the bikes were nothing special a Carerra Banshee X and a Giant FCR 3, they still were my lifeblood for my weight loss, of course I can go get replacements, but how long before the scum repay a visit and steal my new bikes? I have no alternative than to store the bikes in my shed, having 2 bikes in the house isn’t really an option. This kind of event has been in the back of mind when I have thought about upgrading, when I got to 17st my wife said that it was a massive achievement and that I should treat myself to a new bike,I have been toying with the idea of getting something with a carbon frame, but now I am thinking Raleigh Bomber! The theives broke 2 padlocks, one on the back garden gate and 1 on the shed to get to my bikes locked in turn to each other, quite clearly they were determined to get what they had come for. I don’t live in an area where crime is high, in fact in my avenue in the 10 years we have been here there hasn’t even been a car break in or burglary! So currently my weight loss is on hold and so is my decision regarding buying a new bike Has the scum won?

As is usual for the doctor’s practice that I am under they sent for me on my birthday for my annual MOT, my checkover consisted of blood pressure check, blood sample and urine sample. 1 week later I had to return for my results. Suprisingly all my tests were normal including blood pressure and cholesterol. However what happened next was the rude awakening I needed, whilst obviously overweight I was mortified to hear that I was weighing in at 152.4kg or in old money a whopping 24st, at that moment I could see the huge abyss that I was fast falling into. The doctor told me that despite all my tests being normal, I was putting my health at serious risk and really it would only be a matter of time if I continued at this weight before I had a major health scare and that only I could do something about it, I was unlikely to see my children grow up, that day my life changed, I left the doctors and went straight to Halfords and bought a mountain bike, being the weight I was I had to buy something that would support my weight and opted for a Carrera Banshee X, for no other reason than it appeared heavy duty with thicker wheels and if I am honest looked like a bike made for bigger people! My cycling started that day, 5 miles to start, that 1st ride showed me how hard this battle was going to be, it took me 43 mins to complete that 1st 5 miles, I was gasping for air throughout the ride, hardly suprising as as my wife and children were always asking how come I was out of breath after going up the stairs, my lungs felt as though they were going to explode my legs were burning due to all the lactic acid, I was aching all over, but most painful was my backside and undercarriage they were red raw and bruised, 24 stone being supported on what felt like a razor blade as a seat was never going to be comfortable, surely that would come in time as the weight came off. Undetered I continued those 5 mile rides come rain, shine and even snow at times, my driving force being that I had to give myself the best opportunity to see my children grow up. The journey had begun….
